Indian Roller Collection

The Indian Roller (Coracias benghalensis) is a species of roller bird found in the Indian subcontinent, and is a medium-sized bird, measuring between 28 and 32 cm in length. The plumage of the Indian Roller is mainly blue on the upperparts and chestnut on the underparts and has a long, pointed beak, which it uses to feed on insects such as grasshoppers, beetles and dragonflies. The wings are broad and rounded with white tips at the ends. During flight, they produce an undulating pattern that can be seen from far away, and are usually seen perched atop trees or wires during daytime hours when they are most active. They have been known to perform acrobatic stunts while flying such as somersaults and dives during courtship displays or territorial disputes with other birds.
