St Marys Severn class lifeboat The Whiteheads

In gale force conditions off the lighthouse at Bishop Rock, the westernmost point of the Isles of Scilly, the St Mary's Severn class The Whiteheads 17-11 powers through the Atlantic swell. Islanders and visitors alike here are grateful for the presence of the lifeboat.

Camels at AA¯t Benhaddou (AA¯t Ben Haddou, Morocco) Featured 19 May 2014 Print

Camels at AA¯t Benhaddou (AA¯t Ben Haddou, Morocco)

AA?t Benhaddou is a fortified city, or ksar, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. It is situated in the Souss-Massa-DrA?a Region on a hill along the Ounila River and is known for its kasbahs, although they take damage with each rainstorm. Most of the town's inhabitants now live in a more modern village of AA?t Ben Haddou at the other side of the river; however, eight families still live within the ksar

Along the coast at Castletownbere

Along the coast at Castletownbere, the Severn class Annette
Hutton waits calmly at her mooring in the waters of Berehaven.
After fifteen years in a portacabin on Dinish Island, the crew finally
have a new boathouse. The lifeboat now has its own custom-made
pontoon too. Shot for Nigel Millard's book the Lifeboat: Courage on our Coasts page 223.
