A Fordson Unit and trailer pump at the London Fire Brigade headquarters, Lambeth. These were just some of the 2000 adapted vehicles utilised as AFS fire appliances. With their trailer pumps they were widely used by the AFS in London during the blitz. The picture shows the crew in the vehicle and hose stored on the trailer pump

HMS Edinburgh has passes through the Patagonian Canal on transit to her next port of call, Valparaiso, Chile.
HMS Edinburgh has been deployed on the Atlantic Patrol Task (South) since May 2011. En route to the South Atlantic she has conducted a number of high profile regional visits including Luanda in Angola and South Georgia.
Since arriving in the South Atlantic she has provided support and reassurance to the British South Atlantic Overseas Territories. HMS Edinburgh has now completed her mid-deployment maintenance period in South Africa to ensure she remains fully operationally capable for the remainder of the deployment

Atlantic Ocean, October 3, 2011 - An aviation boatswain's mate directs an F-35B Lightning II after it completes the first vertical landing on a flight deck at sea aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). The F-35B is the Marine Corps Joint Strike Force variant of the Joint Strike Fighter and is designed for short takeoff and vertical landing on Navy amphibious ships
