Thick-billed weaver nest

Thick-billed weaver nest. This nest was built by the thick-billed weaver (Amblyospiza albifrons). This bird breeds in reeds. The male builds the nest and the female incubates the eggs and raises the young. This weaver bird is usually found in riverine forests, feeding on seeds. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa. Weaver bird nests are made by weaving together grasses or strips of leaves. Photographed in Howick, South Africa
