A Chinese cyclist pedals inside the Forbidden City in Beijing October 28, 2004. Beijing's 600-year-old Forbidden City is undergoing a massive renovation project that is keeping 1,400 workers and engineers busy repainting, retiling, and rebuilding most of the crumbling imperial relics. Costing more than 100 million yuan per year ($12 million dollars/year), the project kicked off in 2001 with the help from World Cultural Heritage Foundation - a U.S protection organisation for cultural relics. The Glorious Stand of the Royal West Kents in Trones Wood

An illustration of a small group of the Royal West Kent regiment repelling German attacks in Trones Wood, France. The soldiers are reported to have been separated from their main force during a night attack on German lines in July 1916. They found themselves surrounded but resisted continuous attacks throughout the night until relief arrived early the next morning. The Illustrated London News at the time quoted a message from British Headquarters in France, which described the episode as reminiscent of Rorke's Drift
