A scheme which has created woodland, hedgerows, meadow and marsh on parts of a school
A scheme which has created woodland, hedgerows, meadow and marsh on parts of a school playing field has won third prize in a national conservation competition. The aim of the £3, 300 project at Moor End High School, Crosland Moor was to create a natural habitat for wildlife as well as improving the area and providing a place of educational interest for many of the school's departments. Some 50 volunteer students, along with parents, staff and local business people, have been involved in the project, which has now gained third prize of a plaque and £500 cheque in the Kodak Conservation Awards. 4th November 1987
