Top Cat Jeremy: Jeremy the cat has been stuck up this tree for days Featured 1 Mar 1974 Print

Top Cat Jeremy: Jeremy the cat has been stuck up this tree for days

Top Cat Jeremy: Jeremy the cat has been stuck up this tree for days. And no one seems very keen to rescue him. A Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals official explained: "The tree is too dangerous to climb. And the fire brigade can't reach him with their gear. All we can do is hope he comes down of his own accord. He must be starving." The official knows the difficulty of this particular tree outside a block of flats in Seven Sisters Road, North London. For six-month-old Jeremy has been stuck up it before - just two weeks ago. He fled from his owner and chased a bird to the top of the 65ft tree. RSPCA rescuers managed to lasso the tree, shaking it until the cat fell out. Unfortunately he missed a sheet being held out below and hurt himself. Four days ago, fully recovered, Jeremy climbed the tree again. And he has been there ever since. Top cat Jeremy, a tiny figure at the top of the tree. March 1974 P000642
