Lake Albert Collection

Lake Albert is a large lake located in the Great Rift Valley of Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo, and is one of the African Great Lakes and is the second largest lake in Uganda. The lake covers an area of about 3,000 square miles and has a maximum depth of approximately 270 feet, and is fed by several rivers including the Semliki River, which flows from Lake Edward to Lake Albert. The lake also serves as an important source for fish, providing sustenance for many local communities living around its shores. Additionally, it supports a variety of wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, waterfowls and other aquatic species. Its waters are also used to generate hydroelectric power for both countries that share its banks - Uganda and DR Congo - making it an important resource for energy production in East Africa.
