Rugby Union - 1992 All Black Tour of South Africa - South Africa 24 New Zealand 27
Pieter Muller scores the second try for South Africa, at Ellis Park, Johannesburg.
This game would become known as the 'Return Test' as it was the first match the Springboks played after their readmission to international rugby following their ban by the IRB due to apartheid in 1984. Ten South Africans made their international debuts.
There was controversy before kick-off when a minute's silence for victims of township violence was disrupted by jeers and anti-ANC chants from the predominantly white Afrikaaner crowd; South Africa flags were waved and the national anthem "Die Stem van Suid-Afrika" played over the PA system despite promises to the ANC from the SARFU not to do so. Consequently a match intended as a celebration of unity was perceived as an act of white defiance
