VISUAL DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage illustration from the cover of "La Vie Parisienne, " dated Saturday, January 19, 1918. She wears a large hat adorned with feathers, a fur stole around her neck, and carries a muff to keep her hands warm. The woman is gracefully gliding across the ice while holding onto the hand of Cupid, who appears to be struggling on skates. Cupid is humorously depicted wearing his traditional garb—a sash and nothing else—alongside his iconic wings and carrying his bow; however, he seems ill-equipped for ice skating or cold weather. In the background, we see muted silhouettes of buildings that suggest an urban setting possibly hinting at Paris itself given the magazine's title. The text "La Vie Parisienne" arches over the top in bold orange letters stylized with flourishes typical of Art Nouveau design prevalent during that time period. Below this scene are additional texts: “60e Année - No 3” indicating it’s from the publication's 60th year and third issue; “Le Numéro: 75 centimes” which indicates the price; followed by another date line reinforcing when this edition was released.
