This evocative portrait captures the enigmatic beauty and regal presence of Adele, the third wife of King Louis VII of France, also known as Louis VII le Jeune (1120-1180). Adele, whose exact birthdate is unknown, was the daughter of Stephen Count of Blois and Adelaide of Maurienne. She became the queen consort of France in approximately 1154, following the annulment of Louis VII's first marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine. The image showcases Adele's striking features, with her piercing gaze and delicate facial structure. Her elaborate headdress, adorned with precious stones and intricate goldwork, signifies her noble status and the wealth of the French court.
