Polk and Henry Clay, unfolds on a bustling New York City street in 1845. The election, which would ultimately decide the fate of the United States and cement Polk's place among the finest presidents in American history, was a fiercely contested battle between two formidable opponents. Clay, a respected statesman and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, represented the Whig Party, while Polk, a veteran congressman from Tennessee, was the nominee of the Democratic Party.
