This striking photograph captures Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, as he proudly holds the Nobel Peace Prize certificate, awarded to him in 1919 for his role in negotiating the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I. The image, taken in 1919, shows Wilson in formal attire, wearing a suit and tie, with a handkerchief peeking out of his pocket. His piercing gaze and the prominent placement of his glasses add to the intensity of the image. Born on December 28, 1856, in Staunton, Virginia, Wilson served as President from 1913 to 1921. He was the first president to hold a doctorate and was also a professor and governor before his election to the White House. He is the only president to have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize while in office, and his vision of a League of Nations, a precursor to the United Nations, remains an influential idea in international relations.
