EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a truly unique moment from Miss Margaret Morris and Mr. Keith Uttley's wedding day. As the couple exchanged vows at St. Augustines Church in Bromley, they were joyfully escorted out by a group of folk dancers known as the Kentish Travellers folk dancing group - a community to which both bride and groom belonged. In their vibrant costumes, the dancers encircled the newlyweds, twirling and swaying to traditional tunes, creating an enchanting atmosphere that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of celebration. With beaming smiles on their faces, Miss Morris and Mr. Uttley embraced this lively display of culture as they made their way from the church to their reception venue - the Crooked Billet. The photograph freezes this fleeting moment in time, allowing us to witness not only a wedding but also a beautiful fusion of love and tradition. It serves as a reminder that weddings are not just about two individuals coming together but also about celebrating shared passions and embracing community bonds. Taken on March 16th, 1959 in Bromley, England, this vintage image exudes happiness and nostalgia for simpler times when music filled hearts with joy and dance brought people closer together. It is an enduring testament to love's ability to unite cultures while capturing an unforgettable chapter in Miss Morris' and Mr. Uttley's journey towards forever after.
