Mr. Charles Lucas, the eldest of the three, is seen in the center, with Mr. Thomas Lucas on his right and Mr. John Kelk on his left. The International Exhibition of 1862, held in London, was a significant event in the history of the city and the world. The exhibition showcased the latest advancements in science, technology, and industry from around the globe. The building, designed by Joseph Paxton, was a marvel of its time, with its distinctive glass and iron structure and expansive size. Mr. Charles Lucas and his brothers, Thomas and Edward, were prominent builders in London during the 19th century.
