This evocative photograph print depicts Stanislas Kostka (1550-1568), a Polish Jesuit and miraculous healer. Born into a noble family, Stanislas was known for his piety and devotion from a young age. At the age of 15, he joined the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was sent to Rome for further studies. However, his health began to deteriorate, and he was diagnosed with a serious illness. Despite his illness, Stanislas continued to pray and perform acts of penance, seeking God's mercy and healing. One night, as he lay in bed, he was visited by the Virgin Mary, who miraculously healed him. Witnesses reported that the room was filled with a sweet fragrance and that Stanislas' bed sheets were left untouched by the water that had previously soaked them due to his illness. Following his miraculous healing, Stanislas resumed his studies and continued to live a life of devotion and piety. However, his health began to decline once again, and he passed away at the age of 18. His body was later exhumed and found to be perfectly preserved, further attesting to the miraculous nature of his life. Stanislas Kostka was canonized as a saint in 1726 and is now revered as the patron saint of those who are ill or dying, as well as those seeking a vocation in the religious life.
