Racine is considered one of the greatest dramatists in the French literary canon, known for his powerful and emotional plays that explored the depths of human passion and morality. Born in La Ferte-Milon, France, Racine's early life was marked by tragedy and hardship. He was sent to a Jesuit boarding school at the age of eight, where he was educated in Latin and Greek literature. Despite his literary success, Racine's personal life was marked by tragedy.
