The Sioux, also known as the Lakota, Dakota, or Teton Sioux, were a powerful and influential Native American tribe who inhabited the Great Plains region of present-day North and South Dakota, and parts of Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The photograph, likely taken circa 1880s, shows the Native Americans gathered around a campfire, engaged in various leisure activities. Some are smoking pipes, while others are playing games or simply enjoying each other's company.
