These four cavitiescirculate the cushioning cerebrospinal fluid(CSF). The two large lateral ventricles lie eitherside of the mid-line of the brain, one in eachcerebral hemisphere. They communicate with thethird ventricle (centre), which lies between andbelow them. This leads to the fourth ventricle(small body, lower centre) via a narrow channel(vertical line), the cerebral aqueduct.
