Stairway access to Finmere Station

Nearly all of the stations on the London Extension were of the same, almost identical, 'island platform' style, access to them was different depending upon the location. Where possible, the stations were built above or below a road bridge, and access was obtained via a staircase from the road bridge leading down to the station; or via a staircase below the bridge leading up to the station. Here we see the brick built access stairway at Finmere Station, leading up to the Station from the roadway below the bridge. Wrought iron gates are provided to prevent unauthorised access, and this has been temporarily supplemented by a plank across two barrels.
