Sigra the Sumatran tiger, at Dublin Zoo, Ireland. 16/03/2004: Habitat loss and illegal trade in animal parts threatens the Sumatran tiger - the last of Indonesia's tiger species, according to a report out Tuesday March 16, 2004. It reveals that at least 50 Sumatran tigers have been poached per year between 1998 and 2002. A report issued by the wildlife trade monitoring network, Traffic and the conservation charity World Wildlife Fund, entitled: Trade of the Sumatran Tiger, that the species may become extinct in a few years unless poaching and destruction of its habititat are stopped immediately.
