Navvy and temporary signal box near Whetstone

An interesting photograph, taken around 1897 from a rough embankment near Whetstone. The navvy is stood beside a temporary signal box that has been erected to control the traffic of contractor's wagons and locos that were employed to bring men and materials to and from the construction sites.
