The kidney is one of a pairof organs that form urine by filtering out wasteproducts from the blood. The three tubes (downleft) for the kidney are, from top: the renalartery; the renal vein; and the ureter. The renalartery brings blood to the kidney, and the renalvein removes it. Blood circulating in a kidney isfiltered in convoluted tubular units (nephrons)that remove water and soluble substances, and thenreabsorb what is needed.
