Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, SUDBROOK.

Manning Wardle & Co. 'K' class 0-6-0 saddletank, SUDBROOK, built in 1891 (No. 891), pictured near Lutterworth in Leicestershire. SUDBROOK was working on Contract No. 3 (Aylestone to Rugby) being constructed by Topham, Jones & Railton between 1894 and 1899 (the contractors ownership plate displays a date '1895'). This photograph shows the engine driver standing on the footplate and a team of six navvies, complete with shovels and pickaxes, leaning against the engine.
