CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL, Kent. Canterbury is the seat of the premiere Archbishop of the Church of England, and the Cathedral has attracted pilgrims from an early date, most famously the characters in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. The city was bombed heavily during the war, unmasking evidence of the Roman town that underlies the Canterbury we see today. Aerial photograph taken in April 1947. Aerofilms Collection (see Links)..
