Bacteria testing

Bacteria testing. Hands holding a cultureplate testing for the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria by looking at antibioticresistance. The agar plate is coated with asolution prepared from a sample supplied by apatient. Discs of filter paper soaked inantibiotic are applied and the amount of bacterialgrowth is observed. The antibiotics are (clockwisefrom top) piperacillin, amoxycillin, trimethoprim, cefuroxime, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin. Clearareas around all antibiotic disks show that thebacterium is not resistant to any of them, whichpositively identifies E. coli.
