The bones shown are the spine's lowervertebrae (at top), below which is the pelvis. Thethigh (femur) and shin (tibia) bones are shown inthe leg separated by the knee joint. At bottom arethe foot bones. The femoral nerve originates inthe lumbar plexus of the lower spine and runs downthe front of the femur. The sciatic nerveoriginates in the sacral plexus in the pelvis andruns behind the femur. Behind the shin bones isthe tibial nerve, plantar nerves supply the foot..
