This exquisite photograph captures the radiant beauty and elegance of Princess Alexandra of Denmark on her wedding day to Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, who would later become King Edward VII of the United Kingdom and Emperor of India, in March 1863. The princess, born on December 1, 1844, in Copenhagen, Denmark, was the eldest daughter of Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein and Princess Louise Rasmussen-Levetzau. Her marriage to the Prince of Wales, who was 12 years her senior, marked the beginning of a long and loving partnership that would last for over 50 years. The image, taken by the renowned photographic studio ILN, captures the young princess in all her bridal glory. She is dressed in a stunning white satin gown with a lace overlay, adorned with a diamond and pearl necklace and a tiara that once belonged to her mother. Her bridal veil is held in place by a diamond and pearl headpiece, adding to her regal and ethereal appearance. The wedding ceremony took place at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace, London, in the presence of the British royal family and numerous dignitaries from around the world.
