The new control tower at Heathrow airport, London, supported by an 85m-high, 4.6m diameter triangular steel mast anchored to the ground with three pairs of cable stays. At more than twice the height of the original tower, the new structure will provide a vantage point for Heathrow's air traffic controllers to manage operations. The tower, designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership and the engineering company Arup, is located close to the western edge of the exiating central terminal area.
