A line of contractor's temporary railway passes under a handsome three arch skew overbridge at a cutting in Northamptonshire. The trackbed has been prepared, and from the sleepers piled on the cutting wall it seems the permanent way is soon to be laid. A steam powered crane is just visible beyond the pier of the bridge. One subject that has refused to pause for Newton's camera is the navvies' dog, whose blurred shape can be seen at the foot of the left hand slope.
