Metropolitan Railway and Great Central bridges at Quainton Road
Looking south along a section of contractor's temporary railway towards the girder bridge that brought a road over the Last Main Line just north of Quainton Road Station. The brick arch bridge on the left spans the Metropolitan Railway's service from Verney Junction. As the Great Central had chosen to use the existing Metropolitan route as the path into the capital for their new London Extension, the two lines merged shortly after passing under these bridges.
