An interesting photograph, taken during construction of the Great Central station at Rothley, Leicestershire. When completed, passengers would reach the single 'island' platform from a covered staircase leading down from the centre of this brick arch overbridge. In common with most other stations on the Last Main Line, a small room was built within the bridge's central brick pier, the entrance to which can be seen in the middle of the picture. The tracks running alongside the platform are a line of contractor's temporary rails.
