Contractor's depot and temporary rails near Willoughby
Taken near Willoughby, this photograph shows a contractor's yard of T. Oliver & Son, the firm responsible for building the Rugby to Woodford section of the Railway. Capping stones, bricks and drainage pipes all lie beside a line of wagons, ready for deployment on the Last Main Line. Note the weeds growing up between the sleepers: normally the contractor's temporary railway was intensively used and then quickly lifted and re-laid elsewhere.
