Tunnel construction, St. Johns Wood, London
Construction of the three tunnels at St. Johns Wood Road, London, circa 1897. Note the steam crane to the left of the photograph: the wooden cab complete with a window is a particularly tidy and well built example of this contractor's modification. This section of the Line (Contract No.7, London) was constructed by J.T. Firbank of London Bridge.
