Construction of Leicester Central Station and turntable
Construction of Leicester Central Station, circa 1897. In the foreground, the turntable is nearing completion. This revolving platform would later be fitted with a stretch of track, and would enable locomotives to both turn around, and move from one line to another. This part of the London Extension (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone) was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
