Construction of Belgrave and Birstall Station, Leicester
Construction work in progress at the site of Belgrave and Birstall Station, Leicester, circa 1897. Beyond is a brick arch overbridge, still with the centring in place. Note that for contractor's rails, the tracks in the foreground appear to be relatively well laid and maintained. This section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone) was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
