Carriage washer at Leicester
Carriage washer standing by a passenger coach at Leicester, circa 1900. From the photograph, it is easy to see why Great Central coaches had a reputation for being well-furnished and comfortable. Note the 'GCR' badges on the man's lapels. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton was the contractor responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
