Centrings for Eydon-Woodford Road bridge
Construction of centrings for the Eydon-Woodford Road Bridge, Northamptonshire, circa 1897. Newton's photograph is a marvellous illustration of bridge construction at the end of the nineteenth century. The bridge beyond the centrings is a temporary one, erected to span the new cutting until the permanent structure was in place. Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne was the contractor who built this section of the Line (Contract No. 5, Woodford to Brackley).
