Contractors' 0-4-0 saddletank locomotive, LIVERPOOL.
Manning Wardle & Co. 'H' class 0-4-0 saddletank, LIVERPOOL, No. 1518 built in 1901. The photograph was taken near Haddenham in Buckinghamshire when LIVERPOOL was working on the Princes Risborough to Grendon Underwood section of the Great Western & Great Central joint line. This section of the joint line was constructed by Louis P. Nott between 1901 and 1905. Posed with LIVERPOOL are her three crew who stand leaning against the locomotive. LIVERPOOL eventually ended up in the service of the War Department before passing to Sir Robert McAlpine of Derby where she was numbered '35'.
