Axe Tavern and Yacht Inn
Photograph of two public houses in Chester, Walkers Axe Tavern and Walkers Yacht Inn. Walkers is the name of the brewery which run them both. In between the two pubs there is a chemist, "R.W Dunn Chemists Ltd". A man is standing on the street with his bike. The image was taken on Nicholas Street where the 200 year-old Axe Tavern (since renamed the "Falchion and Firkin" and then "Bar Coast") is situated. The Yacht Inn is shown at the end of this street where it meets Watergate Street. It was demolished so that an inner ring road could be built (completed 1972). The Hardmans had a second studio in Chester from 1938-1958.
