Coast of Devon
|
This is a view of the white cliffs at Seaton, Devon from a high viewpoint which shows the beach and coast in the background. The alternative title for this image is The Devonshire Coast. In the foreground we can see the more textured rocky cliffs. Hardman has written of the image; White Cliff, Seaton, Devon. The last of the white cliffs Beyond Beer Head, to the west are the red cliffs; not so photogenic. Photographed in winter, hence no visitors on the shore. 3¼ x 4¼ Newman and Guardia Sibyl Camera, medium yellow filter. There exists in the collection a "Postal Camera Club" criticism of the image which states the opinions of fellow photographers (cb189). Exhibited The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain accepted and hung at the Pictorial Exhibition, London 1953, Chester 1957 and the London Salon of Photography, 1968.
