Elizabrth Taylor, English-American actress, c1950s(').Elizabrth Taylor, English-American actress, c1950s('). Elizabeth Taylor made her screen debut as a child in "Lassie Come Home" in 1943. In the 1960s she became a Hollywood superstar, winning Best Actress Oscars for "BUtterfield 8" (1960) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1966). In 1963 she received what was then the highest fee for appearing in a film, when she signed up to play the title role in "Cleopatra".
