Jean Pierre Blanchard

Jean-Pierre Blanchard the first man to cross the English Channel by balloon on 7 January 1785, with Dr John Jeffries as passenger. Blanchard travelled widely through Europe giving demonstrations and in 1793 was the first man to fly a balloon in North America.
