Ariane 5 rocket

Ariane 5. Artist's impression of an Ariane 5rocket high over the Earth after launch. The mainbody of the rocket is flanked by two large solidrocket boosters, used to add to the thrust of themain liquid-fuelled Vulcain motor. Ariane 5 is thelatest in the Ariane range of launch vehiclesdesigned and built in Europe. Like itspredecessors, Ariane 5 will be used mainly forsatellite launches, although it is capable ofcarrying a variety of other spacecraft for spaceexploration. The first launch of an Ariane 5 isset for May 1996.
