Cigarette smoke also contains numerous carcinogenic chemicals. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, and can also cause heart disease, bronchitis and emphysema. It has been shown that breathing in the exhaled smoke of others (passive smoking) also increases the risk of developing these conditions.
