Spinosaurus dinosaurSpinosaurus dinosaur, computer artwork. Spinosaurus was the longest carnivorous dinosaur, reaching a length of up to 16 metres. It had a long crocodile-like head, and probably fed on fish. The sail on its back might have been used for temperature regulation or in mating displays. Spinosaurus lived in what is now northern Africa during the late Cretaceous period, 95-80 million years ago.
