Twenty-two degree halo around the setting sun, with sundogs (or mock suns) at either side and directly above. The sundogs are technically known as parhelia; the mock sun above the real sun as an upper tangent arc. The phenomena are caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the air. The photograph was taken on Spitsbergen, the Norwegian island on the edge of the Arctic Ocean.
