Pasteur Institute. Patients in the waiting room of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. Founded in 1887 and inaugurated in 1888, it was named after the French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895). The institute aimed to bring together scientists and students to study and carry out research on microbiology and its applications in medicine.
