Though the schools are closed for the holidays, schoolchildren at Carshalton, Surrey, still receive their daily milk. A scheme has been put into operation for supplying milk to the children during the holiday periods.
Six hundred children are attending three schools in the district for half an hour in the morning to drink their milk there.
The milk is paid for by a half penny contribution from the child and a half penny from a grant. Women Volunteers issue the milk.
