Egville, dated November or December of 1938, captures the humorous side of the holiday season in a series of six panels. The scene centers around a man's ambitious attempt to hang a bunch of mistletoe in his home, an age-old tradition symbolizing love and good fortune. In the first panel, the man stands atop a ladder, a large bunch of mistletoe in hand, ready to secure it to the ceiling. In the second panel, his cat, sensing an opportunity for mischief, knocks the ladder away, sending the man crashing to the floor. In the third panel, the man, now determined, attempts to use a chair for support, only to have it collapse beneath him. The fourth panel shows the man's wife entering the room, looking concerned at the chaos unfolding. In the fifth panel, the man, now desperate, grabs a broom and attempts to reach the ceiling, only to slip and send the mistletoe bundle crashing to the ground.
